The Late Gary Rossington’s Georgia Estate Sells For $6.58 Million
The longtime Georgia estate of the late Lynyrd Skynyrd founding member and guitarist Gary Rossington has sold for $6.58 million.
Known as Free Bird’s Nest after the band’s iconic song, the estate once encompassed roughly 68 acres in Milton, with the Rossingtons gradually assembling nine separate parcels after buying the original seven-acre property and its existing home for about $1 million in 1997.
Rossington’s wife, Dale, sold the first 32 acres for $4.7 million last December, while the latest sale includes the final 36 acres, the couple’s main residence, Sargent Lake, and a guest house.

Driving to The Main House
As you enter Rossington’s former home, a long private drive winds through the wooded property before reaching the main residence.
As the trees open up, the traditional three-level home comes into view with roughly 7,500 square feet of living space.
At the end of a brick pathway sits a covered entry with double doors, while white brick, black shutters, and a series of steep rooflines give the house its classic look.
Foyer
Stepping inside, the home opens into a two-story foyer with light blue-gray walls and white trim. On either side of the entrance, large doorways open to the formal dining room and study.
Formal Dining Room
The formal dining room is on the left side of the foyer. Inside, a long dining table sits beneath a cascading crystal chandelier, with tall windows and artwork lining the walls.
