Kanye West’s Former Malibu Home Back on the Market for $39 Million

Once owned by Kanye West, a dramatic Malibu estate designed by Tadao Ando is back on the market for $39 million, though it’s still far from complete.

West famously purchased the home for $57.3 million in 2021, then gutted it in preparation for a redesign before changing his mind and putting the concrete shell back on the market.

It was eventually sold to investor Steven “Bo” Belmont of Belwood Investments for just $21 million. He initially planned a full restoration but is now flipping the unfinished concrete shell sooner than expected.

Entering The Heartless Home

Entering Kanye West’s former Malibu home is like stepping into the bones of a brutalist monument. Built from reinforced concrete and 200 tons of steel, the structure is immovable.

West stripped it bare, leaving behind walls unadorned, edges clean, and the only ornamentation being the ocean framed perfectly through glass walls.

Living Room Reminiscent of a Ghost Town

Descending the stairs into what was once the living room of this Malibu home, you’re met with nothing but raw concrete and unobstructed ocean views.

The space has been stripped to its elemental core—no furniture, no finishes, just a fireplace recessed into a cold gray wall and floor-to-ceiling glass framing the shoreline.

A New Again Primary Suite

Heading up the stairs, the primary suite sits on the home’s third level and is the most finished part of Belmont’s renovation compared to most of the home’s bare materials.

In the room, a wall of sliding glass doors opens the bedroom to panoramic ocean views, seamlessly connecting the space to a broad private terrace designed with custom loungers and sculptural umbrellas.

Within the space, a rectangular bench sits at the end of the bed designed in the same warm, slatted wood paneling that wraps one end of the room.

Classic Outdoor Features

The home’s concrete exterior gives way to a small patio tucked between its brutalist walls, opening directly onto the sand. A circular firepit with built-in seating overlooks the Pacific, framed by sharp lines and minimalist detailing.

Just beyond, a private stairway runs down the side of the house, offering direct access to one of Malibu’s most exclusive beaches.

Final Thoughts

What began as an ambitious project between West and architect Tadao Ando remains incomplete, a raw canvas waiting for someone with vision—and the resources—to see it through.

Now that Kanye has moved on to a new home in Beverly Hills, the spotlight shifts to who will take on the task of reviving Ando’s minimalist masterpiece. With the right owner, this long-paused project could finally become the architectural icon it was meant to be.
