Kevin Plank Lists Maryland Equestrian Estate For $16.5 Million

Under Armour CEO Kevin Plank is listing his Maryland estate, Sagamore Farm, for $16.5 million after first bringing it to market in early 2025 for $22 million.

The property has long been one of the most recognized names in American horse racing, with a history tied to major breeding and training operations.

Sagamore gained international attention during its peak years, including connections to the Vanderbilts and British royalty, with Queen Elizabeth II keeping a broodmare on the grounds.

Spanning more than 500 acres in Worthington Valley, the estate combines a large private residence with extensive equestrian infrastructure.

Plank’s Historic Racing Estate

Sagamore Farm dates back to 1925 and has served as a central hub for Thoroughbred breeding and training, a feature that first led Kevin Plank to purchase the property in 2007 as he shares in the YouTube video below.

The property is laid out across rolling pastures, enclosed by traditional white board fencing and was organized to support Plank’s plans to continue it’s full-scale equestrian operation.

The estate also includes a 3/4-mile synthetic training track, along with viewing facilities and support structures positioned around the grounds.

Multiple barns, paddocks, and specialized buildings are distributed across the acreage, maintaining the operational structure established over decades.

Interiors Within the Main Residence

At the center of the property sits a 16,000-square-foot residence designed for both residential use and hosting.

The layout includes formal living and dining spaces, along with a library positioned as a more private interior room.

Upper-level bedrooms are arranged with en-suite bathrooms, allowing for separation between occupants and guests.

The home’s structure reflects a traditional estate layout, scaled to match the size of the surrounding land.

Why is Plank Selling?

Ultimately, the decision to list Sagamore Farm reflects a shift in Kevin Plank’s priorities after acquiring the estate in 2007 with plans to revive it as a premier Thoroughbred breeding and training operation.

However, in 2020 Plank began gradually scaling back those ambitions, ending active racing operations as his focus moved toward Under Armour and the growth of his Sagamore Spirit whiskey brand.

With limited time to manage a property of this scale, the sale aligns with a broader effort to streamline his Maryland holdings and step away from the demands of a full-scale horse farm.

For a future owner, Sagamore Farm represents a rare opportunity to take stewardship of one of the most historically significant equestrian estates in the country.
