In 2010, Matthews, who played for teams including the Los Angeles Angels, Texas Rangers, and New York Mets, purchased a vacant lot in Newport Beach’s Irvine Terrace neighborhood for $3 million.
He then enlisted architect Carlton Graham, Steve Davidson Construction, and Tom Waters to create a contemporary residence that was completed in 2014.
