Tori Spelling’s Childhood Home in Los Angeles is Selling For $137.5 Million

The Spelling Manor, the childhood home of 90210 star Tori Spelling, is a sprawling estate that has become one of the most iconic properties in Los Angeles and has been on the market since 2023 with a $17.5 million price cut from its original $155 million listing price.

Originally built by her father, legendary TV producer Aaron Spelling, on the former estate of Bing Crosby, it made headlines as one of the most expensive residential real estate deals in U.S. history.

Larger than the Taj Mahal and the White House, this French chateau-style mansion has over 56,000 square feet of living space and decades of history.

A Home of Unparalleled Grandeur

Built in 1988, the Spelling Manor remains one of Los Angeles’ most extravagant estates, so much so that even Prince Charles stayed there during a visit. A glimpse of the property’s scale and grandeur can be seen in this Instagram post from Carolwood Estates.

Designed by architect James Langenheim, the estate was custom-built to match Aaron and Candy Spelling’s larger-than-life lifestyle. Every opulent detail is captured in a walkthrough tour led by estate director Drew Fenton in a video from Architectural Digest.

With over 56,000 square feet, the home includes everything from a bowling alley and beauty salon to a gift-wrapping room and one of the largest closets in Los Angeles. It took seven years and a daily crew of 150 workers to build, as Carolwood Estates puts it, “one of the finest estates in the world”.

Our Favorite Manor Spots

With 123 rooms and countless amenities, it’s no small task to pick favorites, but we’ve narrowed it down to five standout spaces that truly define the Spelling Manor as seen in Pinterest posts from realtor.com, Robb Report, and the Los Angeles Times.

#5: Foyer

The foyer makes a commanding first impression with its 30-foot ceilings, a double staircase featuring hand-forged railings from Texas, and a glimmering chandelier that can be raised or lowered. It’s a grand introduction to the scale and detail found throughout the estate, making it our #5 pick.

#4: Formal Living Room

The formal living room, lined with five French doors, acts as a central connector between the motor court, entry hall, and outdoor grounds. As one of the main arteries of the home, it sets the tone for the grand yet fluid lifestyle that the Spelling Manor was built to embody.

#3: Primary Suite Bedroom

Coming in at #3 and tucked away in its own private wing, the primary bedroom was intentionally designed to give the Spellings complete privacy, separated from the rest of the home so they could enjoy their space without ever needing to know what was happening elsewhere.

#2: Bowling Alley

One of the most distinctive features in the Manor is the two-lane bowling alley, a groundbreaking addition at the time it was built. Aaron Spelling’s love for the game made it a must-have in what he envisioned as his forever home.

#1: Primary Suite Closet

One of the largest closets in all of Los Angeles sits inside the Manor, a two-story space designed to display an endless wardrobe of clothing and accessories. With the scale of a luxury boutique, it even includes a separate dressing room that rivals those found in high-end retail stores, making it our #1 spot.

A Home Filled With Luxury and Legacy

After Aaron Spelling’s passing in 2006, Candy Spelling downsized and sold the property in 2011 for $85 million to Petra Ecclestone, the daughter of Formula One billionaire Bernie Ecclestone.

Ecclestone invested in extensive renovations to modernize the home while maintaining its opulent character. When the property returned to the market, it sold in 2019 for just under $120 million, setting a record in the Los Angeles luxury market at the time.

Now selling for $137.5 million and with over 56,000 square feet, an array of luxurious amenities, and a legacy tied to the Spelling family, this Holmby Hills estate continues to captivate as an icon of wealth and opulence. For Tori Spelling, it remains a monumental part of her Hollywood heritage.
