Kristen Wiig Reduces Price on Pasadena Home to $6 Million

Kristen Wiig is giving buyers another opportunity to purchase her 1960s Pasadena home, lowering the asking price to just under $6 million, only a month after first listing it.

The comedian and actress purchased the home for $5.5 million in February, then put it back on the market in May with an asking price of nearly $6.3 million before its most recent price cut.

Designed by the acclaimed architectural firm Ainsworth, Angel & McClellan, the midcentury residence is considered one of Pasadena’s notable examples of California modernism influenced by Japanese design.

Inside Wiig’s Pasadena Home

Sitting within Pasadena’s coveted San Rafael neighborhood, Wiig’s home draws inspiration from both California modernism and Japanese design principles.

Lush, mature landscaping wraps around the entire residence, from the suspended bridge that leads to the front entrance to winding garden paths that guide you to outdoor entertaining spaces including a swimming pool and spa.

Inside, the 5,559-square-foot home includes four bedrooms and six bathrooms with a primary suite featuring a large skylight, sitting area, and spa bathroom.

Much of the design centers around redwood detailing, smooth plaster walls, expansive glass, travertine finishes, and custom millwork.

In addition to the main residence, the property includes fully independent guest quarters complete with their own living room, dining area, kitchen, and spacious bedroom.

Our Top Two Favorite Spots

While Kristen Wiig may not own this Pasadena home for long, it’s easy to see what drew her to it in the first place. In particular, the design of two of the main living spaces best captures what makes the home so appealing.

Kitchen

First is the kitchen, which has a sleek contemporary look built around a large central island with a raised breakfast bar.

The room is lined with warm wood cabinetry, black stone countertops, and integrated appliances.

Living Room

Then there is the living room, which captures the home’s warm contemporary design perfectly with a wood ceiling and expansive windows that draw in natural light.

In the center, a brick fireplace with a broad stone hearth serves as the focal point, complemented by sculptural furnishings in rich earth tones, including curved velvet seating and a dark stone coffee table.

Why is Wiig Reselling so Soon?

While Wiig has not publicly shared why she’s already looking to part with the home, the timing suggests the purchase may have been intended as a short-term investment.

After initially listing the property for nearly $6.3 million just months after buying it for $5.5 million, the recent price reduction indicates that strategy has yet to pay off.

Even if this Pasadena residence changes hands, Wiig isn’t going far, as her primary home is located just a short distance away.
