Overview of The Land
Spring Creek Ranch stretches approximately 1,530 acres at the headwaters of the Fall River, with control over key tributaries including Spring Creek and Lava Creek.

The property includes over a mile of river frontage, creating a rare level of private access to one of California’s most well-known fly fishing regions.

The land is divided across multiple parcels and zoning designations, combining agricultural use with natural habitat.
Open meadows, wetlands, and forested sections shape the layout, with water systems running through the property and defining both its recreational and operational use.

Inside The Main House
The main house is positioned along Spring Creek, designed as a three-bedroom cabin with direct views of the water.
Its layout is straightforward, with a full kitchen, living space, and a covered porch that connects the home to the surrounding landscape.

Living Room
Inside the house, the living room is arranged as a broad open space centered on a black fireplace set against a full brick chimney wall.
Windows on either side pull in views of the landscape, while the seating area is laid out across a large patterned rug with a mix of sofas, floral armchairs, and wingback chairs gathered around a low square coffee table.

Kitchen
Right in front of the living room, the kitchen runs as a long galley-style space. Wood cabinetry lines both sides, white countertops brighten the layout, and the floor shifts from hardwood to square tile, marking the kitchen as its own zone.

One side holds the main work area with the sink, range, and upper cabinetry, while an extra-long counter runs on the opposite side, creating a wide corridor through the middle of the room.
At the far end, the kitchen flows directly into a casual dining nook set in front of large windows.

Formal Dining Room
On the other side of the living room, the formal dining room opens with a long wood dining table surrounded by matching chairs centered over a large patterned rug.
The walls are kept plain and bright, so the eye goes straight to the row of windows at the far end and the sliding glass door along one side, both of which bring the landscape directly into the room.

Bedroom
One of the home’s three bedrooms keeps the same straightforward, comfortable look seen throughout the house, with light floors, white walls, and wide windows wrapping the room.
Two beds are positioned to face outward toward the windows, while blue drapery and warm wood trim frame each to add a bit of contrast against the simple palette.

Airstream Camp
A separate Airstream camp introduces a more casual living setup, with multiple custom trailers configured around a shared outdoor deck.

Each trailer is built to support extended stays focused on fishing and outdoor use with sleeping quarters, bathrooms, and lounge areas.

Kitchen Unit
At the center of the Airstream camp, the shared kitchen area is built around a screened pavilion that works as both a gathering space and a service hub for the trailers around it.

Steel framing and broad glass walls keep the structure open to the landscape, while the wood decking, exposed beams, and long communal table give it the feel of an outdoor lodge rather than a standard camp setup.

Recreation and Land Use Across the Property
Beyond fishing, the ranch supports a range of outdoor activities, including waterfowl and upland bird hunting along the Pacific Flyway.

The property’s wetlands and fields attract a wide range of wildlife, including deer, geese, and raptors, while also supporting agricultural operations such as hay production and grazing.

Additional features include two bass ponds, irrigated farmland, barns, and utility structures that support both recreation and ranch management.

Why is Whitman Selling?
Whitman and Harsh acquired Spring Creek Ranch as a personal escape, centered around fly fishing and time outdoors.
However, after several years of ownership, Whitman and Harsh are now stepping away from the property following a shift in how they spend their time.
The couple relocated to Telluride, Colorado in 2021 and has used the ranch far less since then. Also, during Whitman’s tenure as the United States Ambassador to Kenya from 2022 to 2024, they spent extended time overseas, leaving the property largely untouched.
With that, the decision to sell seems to make sense for their current life, allowing them to redistribute the investment into other opportunities.
For its new owner, Spring Creek Ranch offers a large-scale Northern California property with private water access, established agricultural capacity, and a layout designed for both leisure and functionality.
