Michael Jordan’s Former Highland Park Estate Sold For $9.5 Million

After over a decade of price cuts and marketing gimmicks, including the promise of every Air Jordan in the buyer’s size, basketball icon Michael Jordan finally offloaded his long-listed Highland Park estate.

Jordan designed, built, and lived in the estate for nearly 19 years before listing it in 2012 for $29 million.

However, the Illinois compound sold at the end of 2024 for just $9.5 million, marking a major markdown for one of the most customized celebrity homes in America.

The History Behind Jordan’s Estate

After nearly a decade of living there, followed by 12 years on the market, Michael Jordan’s Highland Park estate has witnessed many chapters of his life.

A YouTube video from Concierge Auctions walks through the entire home, sharing the history behind Jordan’s time there and the major renovations made in 2009.

One of the most iconic moments revealed is the story of the “Breakfast Club,” where Bulls players would train in Jordan’s weight room before team practices.

A Tourist Hotspot

Designed by renowned architect Richard Landry and completed in 1995, the estate, nicknamed “Champions Point,” has become a hotspot for tourists over the years because of the entry gate branded with Jordan’s signature number 23.

Filming Location

Another fascinating piece of history tied to Jordan’s Highland Park estate is that Travis Scott filmed his FRANCHISE music video there.

In the video on YouTube, you’ll spot some of the estate’s most iconic features, including the 23-branded front gates and the circular infinity pool. These standout visuals helped cement the home’s legacy in both sports and pop culture.

Detailed Walking Tour

With 7 acres of land and decades of history, Michael Jordan’s estate is filled with subtle details that offer a more personal glimpse into his life.

From the number of trees lining the property to the original Bulls logo taken straight from the stadium and placed in his trophy room, each element tells part of the story. You can learn about it all in the YouTube video tour from Enes Yilmazer.

Now You Can Live Like Jordan

Today, the new owners of Michael Jordan’s estate have preserved the property exactly as it was and converted it into an Airbnb rental. According to Crain’s Chicago Business, it initially cost $105,514 for a minimum seven-night stay.

An Instagram reel from NBC San Diego shares more details about the listing, revealing that the estate was even offered as a month-long stay during March Madness.

Branded as “The Ultimate March Madness Retreat,” the spring promotion aimed to turn the legendary property into a once-in-a-lifetime fan experience.

As you can imagine, this failed to attract much demand and now the property is available for a more reasonable rate.

Why Did Jordan Decide to Sell?

After more than a decade on the market, Michael Jordan finally closed the chapter on his iconic Highland Park mansion with a $9.5 million sale in 2024.

The 56,000-square-foot estate, customized down to the gates bearing his legendary number 23, became increasingly difficult to sell due to its sheer scale, unique features, and hefty price tag.

Following his 2006 divorce from Juanita Jordan and permanent move to North Carolina, the Illinois property sat largely unused, a symbol of a past life that no longer aligned with Jordan’s present.

With the sale complete, Jordan can now focus on the legacy he’s building elsewhere, while a new owner takes on one of basketball’s most personal pieces of history.
